Why Australia for Fine Wines?

Australia, the land DownUnder, has become a major and exciting force in international wines. Australian wine is taking the world by storm, due to the quality of the grape stock combined with the skill and experience of our winemakers. This enables us to produce a superb and wide range of Australian wine styles.

Our island continent features wines as varied as its terrain. Most people know of Australian Shiraz - that fruit-forward wine now known and enjoyed around the world. These fabulous 'fruit bombs' represent but a small part of the overall Australian winemaking scene.

Australia is sometimes described as the perfect wine producing country. It has a land mass as great as the United States or Western Europe, with a diverse climate from cold to cool to warm, and a wide variety of soil types, including the famous Coonawarra terra rossa. These natural advantages coupled with the irrepressible free-spirited character of the Australian people, has encouraged Australian winemakers to build on the great traditions of winemaking, to create delicious wines of stunning quality, diversity and uniqueness.

Wines from Australia are usually denoted by their grape variety. Aside from Shiraz, Australia also produces fine Chardonnay, Semillon, Riesling, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and plenty of Cab-Shiraz blends plus some distinct Aussie wines. And don't forget our Australian sparking whites and reds - just the wines to keep your taste buds tingling.

Delicious concentrated ripe fruit, harvested at the peak of perfection is easier to obtain in Australia than almost anywhere else in the world. Australian wines are a delight on your palette with their different aromas, flavours and taste sensations crafted from each of the different grapes, blends and regions.

Please come and visit us DownUnder, but if you don't have the time just now, take a Wine Tour around our amazing country through our AussieWinesOnline.com website and experience the people, places and our incomparable wines.

Ch Theulet Monbazillac - Futs des Chenes - Prestige

Located in the Bergerac region just west of Bordeaux lays the tiny Monbazillac district that specializes in late-harvest dessert wines. Made from Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadet, this botrytis or late-harvest wine (like great Sauternes), Monbazillac has a special production not commonly found in after-dinner wines. Although a white wine, Monbazillac is produced like a red wine, leaving the skins of the grapes in contact with the juice for a number of weeks giving particularly rich flavor elements. The juice is then fermented and aged in oak barrels for at least 18 months. Chateau Theulet is a wine with light gold color and a concentrated and complex nose of acacia, apricots and citrus fruits. A rich and voluptuous attack awaits the palate with flavors of vanilla and caramel. If you like fois gras, this is your wine. It is also excellent with any blue cheese or by itself as a "dessert in a bottle." MONB01 MONB01

Discovering More Wine Club Benefits

Tue, 23 Dec 2008 15:56:55 -0800
I’ve loved this wine from my first taste of it in the Nelson Family Vineyards tasting room in 2006. Then, it was the 2005 and it convinced me to join the Nelson Wine Club. On the nose of the 2006 I found pineapple, honey, spice, lychee, orange, lemon zest, and ginger. I loved the spicy quality that this wine has.

The Benefits of Metal Wine Racks

The number of metal wine racks available may seem overwhelming, but by narrowing your search you can find your ideal metal wine rack quickly and easily.

The number of metal wine racks available may seem overwhelming, but by narrowing your search you can find your ideal metal wine rack quickly and easily.

Dont worry about how a wine rack will affect the wines flavor. Where you store your wine is far more important than how you store it. Wine should be kept in a consistently cool, dark, slightly humid place. Keep the temperature between 50 and 59 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat or light can cook the wine and spoil it. Store the wine horizontally so that the wine keeps the cork wet. Never put wine on top of the refrigerator -- it will ruin the wine. Find a place in your home to store your wine, and then shop for a wine rack that will fit there.

Also have an idea about how many bottles you would like to store. This will limit your search further. If you plan on expanding your collection over the years, buy a simple wire system so you can find additional pieces that match or coordinate over the years.

Metal wine racks have two advantages over wooden racks: the wines label is easy to see, and metal wine racks are more likely to fit in narrow spaces. If you will be storing your wine in a closet, under stairs, or in a hallway, metal wine racks are perfect.

Metal wine rack prices depend on size and quality of the metal. You can find decorative, small metal wine racks for under $50. Larger wine racks cost several hundreds of dollars, but you can invest in a wine rack that doubles as a table for wine accessories.

Wrought iron wine racks are some of the most traditional wine racks. They can be simple and elegant with clean lines, or gracefully curvy. Wine racks made from chrome or steel are prefect for modern dcors. Search the Internet for great deals on wine racks of a variety of styles and sizes.
